Light of the World, Shepherd, Ruler, Immanuel, and Savior/Messiah.
Each of these aspects of Jesus meets a deep need in our lives. Life is full of bad news so bring some good news into your life
this Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of Christ and why he can bring great joy for all people including you.
Light of the World – 12.03.23
Scripture: Isaiah 9:2, Matthew 2:2, John 1:1-5, John 8:12
The Bible says that the birth of Jesus is good news and great joy for all people. In this Christmas series we will look at 5 different things Jesus is for all people; Light of the World, Shepherd, Ruler, Immanuel, and Savior/Messiah. Shepherd – 12.10.23
Scripture: Matthew 2:3-6, Luke 2:8-12, John 10:1-18
Jesus is good news and great joy for all people because in his birth it was announced that he would be a shepherd. Later in his life he proclaimed that he is the Good Shepherd. What does this mean for you? You and I are like sheep. We all need someone who can perfectly love us, show us the way, provide all we need, and even protect us from our greatest danger. We all find ourselves feeding on some pasture of life trying to provide for needs. Jesus has revealed to us that he is the shepherd you and I need because he is God. All other shepherds we look to will fail us, even if we are trying to shepherd ourselves. He is the good shepherd in whom we find all the true provisions for our soul and for life. Have you given your heart to Jesus to be your shepherd and are you following Him today?
Ruler – 12.17.23
Scripture: Matthew 2:1-6, Micah 5:2
Why is Jesus good news and great joy for all people? One reason is because he is a ruler. That might not sound initially appealing to you, but once we understand the beauty of what that means he becomes desirable to us in the depths of our hearts. In this message we will explore how in the announcement of the birth of Jesus he is identified as a ruler. What does he rule, how does he rule, where does he rule, and how will you respond in your heart to Jesus this Christmas?
Immanuel (Morning) – 12.24.23
Scripture: Matthew 1:18-24
Immanuel means ‘God with us’. But is he? From the viewpoint of most people in world many wonder if God really is with us. Many struggle to believe, some doubt, others reject the idea of God being with us. But God has told us his story. It starts in the beginning of his book given to us from him, the Bible, and it traces the story through the lens of biblical history how God is with us that culminates in the person of Jesus Christ. In this message we will see how God is with us and why Jesus is such good news and great joy for all people.
