Exodus – Delivered by Grace & Led to Worship

Meeting God at Mt. Sinai vs. Mt. Zion

Text: Exodus 19, Hebrews 12:18-29, I Peter 2:9-10
Date: March 26, 2023

Someday you’re going to meet God. In person. No one can escape a meeting with God when you die. God wants that to be a good day for you. Thankfully, through the Bible we learn that God has already met with us! He has revealed himself to us and told us how to be prepared to meet him. Eternity matters.

In today’s passage, we will see the beginning days of God meeting with the Israelites at Mount Sinai. God’s relationship with mankind before Christ came was largely defined by the law God gave at this mountain and there is a lot to learn from it. The Bible and your life both confirm that you can never perfectly keep the law of God. We all fall short. But thankfully, God has grace for us given in Christ. His grace means that we can meet God at another mountain, Mount Zion, the heavenly city where believers will live forever with God. It’s a much better mountain. It’s a mountain of joy instead of a mountain of fear.

Deeply consider Christ today and all that he has done for you. Make sure you have not refused him speaking to you through the gospel. Live life a life of worship to Christ so that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
